Income Referee refusing to fill up the form

Hi, my company is not able to fill up the referee form due to their policies and safety concerns. They can only provide me a letter stating that I am full time employee and etc., however OpenRent is not accepting this kind of verification, for this specific reason I will be failing affordability criteria, what should I do? Is there any alternative?

come on OR… sort this out. We’re getting these complaints on almost a daily basis and with the rental market so competitive these days, applicants don’t need rental portals to throw up insurmountable barriers that effectively block them from properties we pay you to advertise.

@paulina4 there’s always going to be some firms that wont fit all of OR’s standard processes.

Explain to your company via your line manager that if they value you, they will help provide basic info to help you have a place to live in - you give them permission to supply the info. They need to be able to explain what their ‘policies and safety concerns’ are so that you and OR can re-assure them and overcome these. Not clear why exactly they wont fill in OR’s form for you

talk to OR and ask about what they actually do for referencing . if eg they ask you for open banking access then they may well be able to see regular payments from your account to a landlord as evidence of past rent payments, as well as regular income received. You could also potentially supply tax records such as copies of a P60. So dont assume you will fail, but equally you need to make every reasonable effort to help OR [on behalf of the LL] obtain the info they want.

good luck

Did you agree to open banking link during the reference process? If so, likely they won’t need employer to do anything.

otherwise, message the landlord. If they are not taking payment protection insurance, they may not need the reference to pass, and may be able to make the decision themselves to override this if the employer reference comes to them directly.

I’m having a similar issue except the link OpenRent is sending doesn’t work for my employee either
