Take reference on a parent living with main tenants?

I have a couple with 2 kids, as potential tenants. The parents work full time and his mother will be living in the property too, effectively providing childcare.

Should I take references on her too? Is it necessary, if she’s not responsible for rent payment and the main tenants pass affordability checks etc?

No, only a Right to Rent check.

Am I correct in thinking the mother should only be allowed as a permitted occupier in this situation?

Another quick question. One of the tenants has just entered their email for referencing. It looks like the system has just grabbed his username from his webmail account to fill the box. Will this hold things up, or is there any way to manually edit the name?

Yes, the mother would be a permitted occupier.
