Worried my partners reference form won’t be complete and sent back to landlord

Hi all,

My partner and I are in the process of renting our first home together, she currently has a council flat and has sent the reference form to them but she has always struggled to get any answers off them and we’re worried they won’t even both filling out the form.

I have passed my checks and we’re just waiting for hers to be passed but don’t want it to take forever and the landlord getting bored of waiting.

What do we do? She’s on UC and is unemployed so doesn’t have an employer to do the reference check. Can the landlord ignore this and continue with the process of renting us the property?

The landlord could decide to proceed without the landlord reference. That said, if I were her, I would be on the phone to the council tomorrow making myself unpopular until they do their job.
